Our Vision & Values

Rooted in Love, Growing Together

At Sarum St Paul's Church of England Primary School, everything we do is inspired by our vision:

Rooted in Love, Growing Together

Our vision is based on a prayer written by St Paul to the Christians in Ephesus:

"And I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ."
(Ephesians 3:17-18)

Our vision is inspired by this prayer from St Paul to the Christians in Ephesus. Through it, we are reminded that when we are rooted and grounded in love, we can grow, flourish and achieve more together than any of us could alone.

At the heart of this prayer is the image of being rooted and grounded in love. Just as a tree needs strong roots to grow and flourish, we believe that people thrive when they are nurtured within a community built on love, care and belonging.

Our vision is for every member of our school community. We want our children, staff, governors, families and wider community to feel valued, supported and empowered to flourish. By being rooted in love, we create the strong foundations that enable us to grow together, learn from one another and become the very best versions of ourselves.

Our four values of Love, Community, Courage and Growth help us to live out this vision every day.

Love: Our Roots

Love is the root from which our vision grows and the foundation of everything we do.

Jesus taught that love is not simply something we feel. Love is something we do. Through kindness, compassion, forgiveness and care for others, we put love into action every day.

To help our children understand this value, we explore the story of the Good Samaritan. Through this story, children learn that love means noticing others, showing compassion and taking action when someone needs our help.

When we are rooted in love, we help ourselves, others and our whole community to flourish.

Community: Growing Together

We believe that everyone belongs and everyone has something valuable to contribute.

At Sarum St Paul's, we celebrate our differences and recognise that we are stronger when we work together. We encourage children to support one another, value different perspectives and understand that each person plays an important role in our school family.

This value is brought to life through Paul's teaching of One Body, Many Parts. Children learn that just as each part of the body has a different purpose, every person has unique gifts and strengths that help our community thrive.

By growing together, we create a community where everyone feels seen, valued and included.

Courage: Reaching Beyond What We Thought Possible

Courage helps us to face challenges, persevere through difficulties and stand up for what is right.

We encourage our children to be brave in their learning, resilient when things are difficult and confident enough to try something new. Courage helps us to step outside our comfort zone and keep going when things feel challenging.

To explore this value, we reflect on the story of David and Goliath. Through David's determination and trust in God, children see that courage is not about being the biggest or strongest, but about finding the confidence to face challenges and do what is right.

Growth: Flourishing and Bearing Fruit

Growth is at the heart of learning and becoming the best version of ourselves.

At Sarum St Paul's, we nurture growth academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We encourage children to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes and recognise that growth takes time.

This value is explored through The Parable of the Sower. Children learn that, just as seeds need the right conditions in which to grow, people flourish when they are nurtured, encouraged and given opportunities to develop their gifts and talents.

We believe that every member of our community has the potential to flourish and make a positive contribution to the world around them.

Living Our Vision

Our vision and values are woven through every aspect of school life. They shape our learning, guide our relationships and inspire the way we care for one another.

For our children, the vision helps them to understand how they can learn, grow and contribute positively to the world around them. For staff, governors and leaders, it provides a framework for decision-making and school improvement. Whether we are planning the curriculum, developing opportunities for pupils, supporting families or setting the strategic direction of the school, we seek to ensure that our choices reflect our vision and values.

Our vision acts as a compass for decision-making. We regularly ask ourselves how our choices will help our community to be more deeply rooted in love and enable every member of our community to grow and flourish. This ensures that our Christian vision is not simply a statement, but something that actively shapes the life and direction of our school.

Through Love, Community, Courage and Growth, we strive to create a school where every member of the community feels known, valued and supported to flourish.

Together, we are:

Rooted in Love, Growing Together.
